The Bamboos are Australia’s Kings & Queens of funk and soul, a Melbourne institution turned global export. Led by guitarist/producer Lance Ferguson with powerhouse vocalist Kylie Auldist, the nine piece have spent 25 years defining and refining a sound where vintage grit meets modern songcraft. They have multiple ARIA nominations, sold out shows from home turf to London’s Jazz Café and a heavyweight discography that flexes from Hard Up (2021) to the orchestral fire of Live at Hamer Hall with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Their latest, This Is How You Do It (2024), is truth in titling: fat grooves, razor tight horns, and choruses that lift the roof. Collabs with Aloe Blacc, Tim Rogers and Megan Washington underline their range; the live show seals it—dance floor ignition, soul deep emotion and a band that plays like a single organism.
